DST ended this morning and we turned our clocks back one-hour...not yet late if you haven't done it already ! Obviously, it gives the sleep starved nation an extra hour of sleep.. as we are undoing something that we did in Spring!
During the initial days in US, I had tough time to remember which way the clocks be turned as DST begins and ends, when some one pointed out ..it is Spring Forward - Fall Back! ...Pretty nice way to sum up the DST rigmarole but to better understand some history behind it, you may read this article by Time magazine.
Admit It: You Don’t Know What Daylight Saving Time Is, Either
So in the next couple of weeks, we are going to get used to early sunsets.. I guess the earliest it can get is on Dec 21st (Winter Solstice) and we know from experience, it could get as early as 4:30 pm...which is so much in contrast to a 8:30pm sunset in summer!
A little bit puzzling and somewhat unsettling, DST is another fact of life that we can't live without as part of our American lives!
